Sun, adventure and team building: Cube in Málaga.
Sometimes there are those weekends you never forget. This was one of those. After weeks of countdown and anticipation, the time had finally come: the Cube weekend in Málaga. A few days away from the daily (Dutch) routine, ready to laugh together, push boundaries and make memories.
Day 1 - Early start, flying & presentations.
At 01.15, the Beatbuzz left Oldenzaal for Eindhoven. With our new Cube-merch, it was immediately clear which company we belonged to. The atmosphere was good from the very first moment. Although it was late, everyone seemed full of energy. Once we arrived at Eindhoven airport, it turned out we were an hour early, even the airport was closed. Oops. But that couldn't spoil the fun and gave some more mental preparation time: after all, for some it was their first flight in a long time, and it felt special to get on one plane with the whole team.
Once we arrived in Málaga, we enjoyed a shared lunch and strategic sessions. CEO Job kicked off with an inspiring word, after which we discussed in smaller groups: who is Cube and where do we want to go? During the sessions, we also took away insights we had previously gained during strategic sessions with SupaDupa, making our brainstorms even more concrete and focused. We then presented the results under the warm Spanish sun on the hotel patio.

In the afternoon, the group split up. One went to the beach to relax, the other on the quad. In both activities there was a lot of fun, but in quad biking there was a bit more mud, hills, water and more mud: The course went right under planes taking off and landing, and at times looked like a scene from an action film, including a quad getting stuck. Upon returning, not a single piece of clothing was clean. Unfortunately, the laundry service was not included.
Once refreshed, we dined together in the evening at the NH Hotel, followed by an evening in the city. Málaga was in Halloween spheres and many enthusiastically adapted. Some opted for the dance floor, others for a quiet evening, and the Halloween masks and spiders provided funny surprises throughout the weekend.
Day 2 - Canyoning & cycling tour.
The next morning was all about adventure. Group one put on their canyoning shoes: jumping, climbing, slipping and, above all, pushing boundaries. Together through water, jumping off rocks, slipping on slippery stones and occasionally bobbing in the sun. Fears were overcome, muscles tested and there was plenty of laughter.
Group two opted for a cultural adventure: a bike tour of Málaga, accompanied by a Dutch guide with Spanish flair. Beautiful routes, interesting stories and the discovery that cycling and sangria go surprisingly well together.

In the afternoon, everyone gathered for perhaps the highlight of the weekend: a sunset catamaran ride. The Mansjen Mix (a tech house mix created by colleagues Mans and Jenne) sounded over the deck as the horizon turned golden and the atmosphere was relaxed and peaceful. The perfect time for good conversation and conviviality. During the trip, Job gave a presentation on Cube's direction (literally and figuratively) where he talked about the organisation's direction and plans for the coming period (spoiler: these are very bold!).
Dinner at L'Experience, right next to the cathedral, closed the day tastefully. Some colleagues could not resist the souvenirs and went home with luminous glasses, bracelets or a rose. Afterwards, the whole team headed into town and developers, designers and everyone in between made the dance floor unsafe at Club Gold.
Day 3 - Caminito del Rey, Spanish sol and speeches.
Sunday started quietly. Some went exercising in the gym, others chose the pool or the ruins of Málaga. A small group grabbed a volleyball and towel for a morning at the beach.
Then it was time for a walk along the Caminito del Rey: an impressive path along steep cliffs with breathtaking views. Despite a small traffic jam on the way back, the atmosphere remained good and everyone was in time for dinner. Meanwhile, the rest of the group enjoyed even more Spanish sun in a beautiful beach club where 30 Seconds was played, photo shoots were held and FC Twente was cheered on.

In the evening, we ate at The Club Málaga, where the restaurant had been cordoned off especially for Cube. With each course, a team gave a short talk to inspire colleagues and share practical tips: from soft skills and collaboration to personal experiences and handy tricks for work. In addition, our newest colleagues gave speeches, allowing everyone to enjoy both Spanish cuisine and team insights and stories one more time. It was a perfect end to an intense and successful weekend, with a final collective toast.
Day 4 - Return home and look back.
The last morning started early. Breakfast, suitcases and some fanatics who even went running (yes, those people really do exist). Back to Eindhoven, where the Beatbuzz was already waiting. The ride back was one big afterglow: stories, photos, videos and even spontaneous singing moments. By the end of the afternoon we arrived in Oldenzaal, where many were awaited by their families and/or pets. Tired, fulfilled and full of memories, we said goodbye. But not for long, because the next day normal life went on again. Back to work together again!
And so suddenly the Cube weekend was over and the memories remained. It was our office manager's first Cube weekend Demi and she really organised it fantastically: everything was down to the last detail. Everyone had a great time and the whole experience was flawless. Truly admirable! This gave the weekend in Malaga all the space it needed to be more than a company outing, it showed who Cube really is: a club of people who laugh together, push boundaries and make each other stronger.
