Customers drop off at checkout
Your payment process is one step too long, one option too few, or one second too slow. On mobile, that is fatal. Customers who reach the checkout are already convinced, but a slow loading time, a missing payment method, or one extra step too many is enough to still lose them.
Payment data does not reach your systems
A successful payment is only successful when your ERP, order processing, and accounting also know it. Without reliable integration, errors accumulate: overdue orders, manual updates, and employees who lose time on work that could have been automated.
Growth is being held back
You want to expand, introduce subscriptions, or build a configurator where the price is only fixed after configuration. Payment integrations that do not scale with you hold back your growth.
In the Netherlands, iDEAL is the absolute standard. Are you going international or targeting a business market? Then credit cards, SEPA direct debit, and Bancontact (Belgium) are often the next step. Wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay significantly speed up checkout on mobile, and mobile now accounts for the majority of webshop traffic. Pay later via Klarna or similar providers lowers the barrier for higher order amounts, but brings credit risk. Subscription billing and recurring payments require a technical solution that most standard platforms cannot handle.
A rule of thumb that works: offer at least the top 3 payment methods for your primary market and ensure the checkout on mobile is frictionless.
Cube is a Mollie Platinum Partner, the highest level within the Mollie Technology Partner Program. In practice, this means for you as a client that you benefit from the knowledge and network of a partner that works with Mollie on a daily basis. This makes a difference in complex payment flows: online leasing processes where the monthly payment depends on duration and configuration, or webshops where the price is only fixed after a multi-step process.
Bring your issue. We do the rest.
Your systems, our expertise
You open an account with your chosen PSP (Payment Service Provider: the party that establishes the technical connection between your webshop and the banks and payment networks) and complete the KYC process. KYC stands for Know Your Customer: the PSP is legally required to verify your identity before you can process payments.
Through the API you build the connection between your webshop and the PSP. The webshop sends a payment request, receives a payment URL, and redirects the customer there.
The customer pays on the PSP’s secure page. After payment, the PSP redirects the customer back to your webshop with a status code.
In parallel to the redirect, the PSP sends a webhook with the definitive payment status. This is the most reliable signal. In a custom webshop you build robust webhook handling with retry logic and logging.
Payments automatically land in your ERP, WMS, or accounting software. Built exactly as your business processes require.
A PSP (Payment Service Provider) creates the technical connection between your webshop and the banks and payment networks. Well-known PSPs in the Dutch market are Mollie, Stripe, Adyen, and Buckaroo.
Mollie is accessible for Dutch organizations, with excellent developer experience and Dutch-language support.
Stripe has the most extensive documentation worldwide and is particularly strong for complex integrations.
Adyen focuses on enterprise and offers the most flexibility in payment flows, but requires more implementation effort.
Buckaroo is a solid Dutch option with broad payment method coverage.
The choice depends on API quality, webhook reliability, sandbox environment, and transaction costs for your expected order mix. For current pricing, consult the pricing page of your PSP.
As a Shopware Certified Partner, we help develop B2B and B2C webshops on a platform that adapts to the requirements of your organization instead of the other way around. From a first webshop to a fully international e-commerce platform.
The choice of a PSP is partly technical, partly commercial. We always advise based on your specific situation, not based on a preference for a supplier.
License models & recurring revenue
Subscriptions, licenses, or SaaS payments require infrastructure that automatically collects payments, processes renewals, and handles failed payments without human intervention.
Online lease & financing
Choice flows where the customer builds their configuration and the corresponding monthly payment is calculated in real time, including the payment flow that follows afterward.
Product configurations & energy packages.
A payment flow that is only activated once the full configuration has been confirmed, including the logic that determines which payment product is offered at which moment.
Marketplace & platform payments
Split payments, escrow structures, or marketplace routing: functionality where Mollie and Stripe each have their own strengths.
Digital skimming is malicious code that intercepts payment data during checkout. Protection lies in the architecture. Hosted payment pages ensure the payment takes place on the PSP’s secure page: your server never sees any payment data. A strict Content Security Policy prevents external scripts from being loaded that are not explicitly allowed. Do you still process payment data on your own servers? Then you are required to comply with PCI-DSS. Our approach to security and privacy is integrated into the development process, not a separate layer that is added afterwards.
The right payment mix and a frictionless checkout demonstrably lead to more completed purchases.
Payments that are correct, webhooks that are processed, systems that stay in sync. No manual work afterwards.
Adding new markets, methods, or business models without revisiting the architecture.
Hosted payment pages. Your server never touches payment data. PCI-DSS without hassle.
iDEAL, credit card, pay later, wallets, subscription billing: you decide what you offer and for whom.
Payments that automatically land in your ERP, WMS, and accounting systems. No manual updates.

No. Buy now pay later is a commercial choice. In B2B, invoicing is standard; in B2C it lowers the threshold for higher order amounts but introduces credit risk.
Use hosted payment pages from your PSP so payment data never passes through your server. Combine this with a strict Content Security Policy and treat security as an integral part of your architecture.
Via your PSP's API. You send a payment request, the PSP processes the transaction and returns the payment status via a webhook. Cube builds this including error handling, back-office integration and connections with WMS, ERP and inventory management systems.
A gateway encrypts and transmits payment data; a processor handles the transaction between banks. With modern PSPs, both are combined into a single service.
Mollie is accessible for Dutch organisations, with strong documentation and Dutch-language support. Stripe excels at complex international integrations. Adyen targets enterprise with high volumes. Buckaroo is a solid Dutch option with broad payment method coverage. As a Mollie Platinum Partner, we advise based on your specific situation.
Costs depend on the payment method, volume and your contract with the PSP. iDEAL typically charges a fixed amount per transaction; credit card charges a percentage of the transaction amount. Check your PSP's pricing page for current rates.
iDEAL 2.0 is the modernised technical infrastructure of iDEAL. Wero is a separate European wallet initiative by EPI, launched for cross-border payments in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France. iDEAL remains a Dutch payment method. Using a PSP? They typically handle the technical adjustments.
