Lucassen Boomkwekerij: from Excel to a modern ordering process.

At Lucassen Boomkwekerij, the realisation grew that the traditional way of working no longer met the company's ambitions. Lucassen wanted a system that saves time and contributes to professionalisation and international growth. Thanks to the new portal and the new website, customers can now easily view the full range and immediately see which products are in stock, always up-to-date and well-organised.

What we worked on
Lucassen Boomkwekerij
Website Lucassen

A customised digital customer portal.

Orders came in largely via Excel lists, which created a lot of back-and-forth mail traffic and extra manual work. Stock details were not always up to date and there was no uniform way to share product photos and price options. The so-called overlists (periodic Excel lists with the current assortment) were also sent to customers manually. Together with Cube, it was therefore decided to develop a digital customer portal, fully integrated with Wintree, the standard software within the tree nursery sector.

There is also the option within the portal to order products with or without a photo label. For garden centres, orders are almost always delivered with a photo label containing consumer information, whereas gardeners and the construction market have less need for this. For them, a photo label with each plant would lead to unnecessary consumption of material and time. In the portal, customers can therefore easily indicate per species whether delivery should take place with or without a label, and the price is adjusted immediately and automatically. The portal now forms the heart of the ordering process and was designed with the customer's practical needs in mind: from gardeners requiring specific plants to garden centres ordering full layers and exporters with large volumes.

Automatic link with Wintree.

A key component is the link with the Wintree API. Stock data is synchronised daily, so customers always see up-to-date information. New customers can directly access the portal as soon as Lucassen checks this in the CMS. In this way, Lucassen manages who gets access to the "my environment". Customers with access can place orders, add plants to their shopping basket and, at checkout, an XML with order details and company information is sent to Wintree. Lucassen takes over the order; no payment takes place via the portal.

Lucassen x Cube

Website that reinforces brand and range.

The portal does not stand alone. Cube also developed a new website that makes Lucassen's strengths visible and lowers the threshold for (new) customers to become acquainted with the product range. The site is fully multilingual (NL/EN/DE) and matches the international sales market. Product category pages have been optimised for SEO, and collections such as Groundbreaker®, Living Creations® and Proven Winners® are presented both practically and visually attractive. For customers, the range is much more visible and exclusive brands and collections are prominently highlighted.

Webdesign Lucassen Boomkwekerij

Image-rich, mobile-friendly design in Statamic CMS.

In terms of appearance, a modern and image-rich design was chosen. The mobile-first design ensures that gardeners and garden centres can also browse smoothly on the go or at trade fairs. Technically, everything runs on Statamic CMS, built on Laravel, with component-based building blocks for reusable elements such as USPs, timelines and FAQ sections. This allows Lucassen to easily build and customise pages himself, while keeping the style consistent.

Impact: efficiency, service and international growth.

The portal and website save time, reduce errors and give customers much more control over their orders. Customers have 24/7 access to current stock, product photos and can set their own preferences, such as prices including/excluding label or desired transport options. Ordering has become very easy and the risk of errors has been minimised.

Mobiele website Lucassen

Cube and Lucassen: technology and processes aligned.

Thanks to automation, Lucassen can focus on their core business: growing healthy, strong plants. The new website gives potential customers a clear picture of the range on offer. The entire process was pleasant and efficient: wishes were clearly mapped from the first meeting, stock management was cleaned up and supplemented as a source for the API link, and problems were solved quickly and effectively thanks to short lines of communication.

"The launch of our new website and customer portal marks an important step in our digital growth. What started as a desire to better serve our customers has grown into a platform where transparency, ease of use and service come together: something we look back on with pride."

A future-proof digital environment.

The digital move supports Lucassen's broader strategy. They are positioning themselves as a modern, forward-looking tree nursery, ready for further international growth. The website presents a professional face to the outside world, supports key customers such as garden centres and highlights sustainable initiatives such as A+ MPS certification and environmentally conscious growing. What started as a search for a more efficient ordering system grew into a complete digital transformation. Excel and mail have largely been replaced by a portal and website that bring together efficiency, service and brand experience, laying a solid foundation for the future.
